The word Stroquies was born when two family members used it as a secret code to depict something or someone cute near by. They would usually say "Stroquies to the right" or "Stroquies up front" and know right away that a cute boy or girl was there. Once they grew older, they actually used the word to name some of their businessess, like a beauty salon and a boutique. Some family boats were also named like that. I've always told my kids about this story, and when we were looking up for names for this handmade jewelry business, my daughter told me she wanted to inmortalize that memory branding our products with it.
